Responsibility of our library system and discrimination of material content

So my local library decided to ban an adult graphic novel due to the content of the book not being suitable for the library. The book in question is called, "Neonomicon" by Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows, which to say the least is an amazing work. After reading the book to find out what the whole issue with the book is, I have come to the conclusion that it is meant for those with an open enough mind to not judge the material on the content but to understand the material that it contains. The book is based around FBI agents that got brought into a H.P. Lovecraft inspired world with many NSFW (not safe for work) images built into the story which help emphasize the story and bring into view things that people are afraid to look at and think about. A lot of the images though very uncomfortable for many people, shows the reader more of the grotesque world in which the horrors that we see in movies actually does come true.
After reading the first chapter I thought that the story was going to be dirty and more there for the display then the intellectual content, but I was wrong when it came to that aspect of the work. There are a few images in the book that I could not bring myself to look at because of the nature of the images, but that aside the artwork as a whole is top notch, only shadowed by the story itself. I never heard of the story until I read an article in the newspaper in which a librarian decided to ban the book because it was not suitable for the library. On the side of reason and justice for the American way, the librarian has committed a crime based on biased uneducated thinking and non-adherence to the library's code. The code being the disclaimer saying that the library is not responsible for what books people read. They have done their job to insure that children do not end up reading books they should not be.
The main reason this has all come to light is from the lack of responsibility on the side of the librarian that initiated the following issues. A fourteen year old female checked out the book from the adult section using an adult males library card. Now I know when I was youngster and attempted to use my mother's card to check out books that were slightly above my own age just reaching into the "for mature audiences only" category I was requested to find a book more my age, plus required to give my mother her card back, and the book was confiscated from me. Why this was not done with the fourteen year old child I will never know. Now I admit I only know as much as the articles I have read tell me, but I feel ashamed for the library who's sole purpose is to bring the joy of reading into the hands of those that want to read; by any means necessary. OK the last part I added on but you get the point. I have strayed from the base line that I was getting to though. Where was I ...oh yes a fourteen year old female using an adult males library card to check out a book from the adult section seems rather suspicious in the first place and you can not tell me you do not feel the same. The girl took the book home and started reading it but then had questions about a word in the book which could be anyone of a number of racist or "ugly" words, to infer that words have a way of looking past the form of description and insight that they give into the characters portrayed in the book. The mother appalled that her daughter would say such a word asked her where she got the word from and the girl responded with the truth like everyone should. The mother being who she is, a concerned individual who wants to know why her daughter was allowed to check out a book from the adult section, calls the library to complain. (Now I say this in all niceties about the mother because what happens next makes me angry to the point where I feel the mother should be re-educated about the way life works) The library responds back and the judge and jury are brought into the story. The judge being the lady that banned the book, name removed from this post for privacies' sake, and the jury who is none other then the library committee. They all read the book, which two books between eleven members took two weeks to complete, they sat down to talk about the fate of the book. The committee said they would keep the book on the shelves but the judge and executioner said the book would be banned, exiled from the library, a fate no book should go through. After reading about this images of Fahrenheit 451 and Equilibrium came to mind the removal of all things that inspire people and stimulate emotions and feelings. Why is it that the book gets punished and not the librarian that allowed the book to be borrowed by a fourteen year old using an adult males card to check out a book taken from the adult section labeled M for Mature. Adults show a lack of maturity in cases like this where they let discrimination and ignorance get in the way of rational thought. It angers me to see this happen over and over again with books that did nothing but exist. The constant censorship of material that need not removed. If people educated themselves more on the materials that their children are reading and played a more active role in their life maybe books like this would be left on shelves for people to enjoy. I remember the conversation I had about the book being removed and they said that people are afraid to expand their minds past what they are comfortable with. Maybe people should stop being afraid of the world and actually live in their world. Make your bed and sleep in it.

"Neonomicon is probably the darkest story Alan Moore has ever written, and definitely the best artwork of Jacen Burrows' already stellar career. I don't know if it's morally acceptable to love something so horrific, but I just cannot stop thinking about this book,"Brian K. Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, Lost)  [from the back cover of Neonomicon.]

Happy belated New Years, random thoughts, speech translations

So I've been meaning to catch up on my post but I've been forgetful or been to busy. So this will be more a catch up then anything else.

Happy New Year

So a lot of people set resolutions for the new year so in the spirit my only resolutions are to catch up on bills and be happy this year. Not much more can be said past that.

Speech translations

I've been doing a lot of thinking on my newspaper route about what we say and how we say it. For example if you say," hate it when people are intolerant of other ....," then it translates to I'm intolerant of others' intolerance. Also phrases like "I hate haters" translates to "I'm a hater hater." The one I love though are the people who are unbiased about unbias people. These translations are more rephrasing long winded sentences into sentences that use the same word as both the subject and the verb so that through defining the words you get the actual meaning of the sentences. I had a few more but the route is long and ADD kicks in so I starting thinking about other things like the weather, proper spelling and it's poor relationship with phonics like "psychology" if used phonetically spelt would be more like "sykalogy." I realize now that doing that made me hate the idea of misspelling the word even though the end justifies the means, at least in my head it does.
Also I've realized that there are sentences that if you don't put the words in the right order or switch one word for a different one they mean something completely different. Example being "put the food in the plate" don't worry I have heard this one that's how I know it exist. Plus you have "close the lights" or "open the lights" in some ways I can understand the usage but in today's world of switches and electricity those seem out of place. (Lost train of thought which comes from lack of sleep)

Random Thoughts

This I left as more an explanation of my absence for the past ....weeks? I guess this will be more like a blog post then the rest has been. Most of it is due to work and the adverse affect it has on me ie.: a large need for sleep that can extend from 4-11 hours if left alone. Mostly I get by on lack of sleep and caffeine but there are the days that I spend more time in bed then working. I  started sleeping more during the day because of the fear of being late for my paper route. Then it just grew on me typically I'm done with the route by 6:15 am on Monday-Saturday and then I sleep till 12 or so unless lack of sleep pushes me into evening time which I've done on various occasions. Sundays are the worse because i typically dont get done till 7 or 7:30 and then i end up staying awake till 3-4 and regret it the next morning when I run the chance of over sleeping. I now have a tablet that I've been using more for work and schedule keeping then play. Right now I'm typing this post on it. Its a very nice nexus 7 which has all the benefits of a laptop without the bulk, only problem I have is the lack of a proper keyboard I'm used to keys that physically depress not a touch screen with a simulated keyboard. My bills fall ever further behind which is frustrating to say the least. I've learned what its like to have a joint give out on me. Simply not fun I was glad the bed was there to break my fall. Past couple of days since then I've been suffering from hip pain that only hurts when I move my left leg in different positions but 10 hours of straight sleep helped to solve most the problems with that. Guess that concludes the train of thought that I had going so auvoir for now.

New paper route

So in order to maintain my way of life I have decided to start a paper route. It feels like I'm young again doing a paper route before school to make spending money. Today is the first day of the paper route which means getting to know the people I will be seeing in the morning; finding out who I will be talking to, to get what I need; getting the papers; and just the regular basics of starting a new job. I'm excited to start this, but in a few weeks I feel like I'm going to be regretting this choice because the hours are early morning while its still dark and cold till the sun comes up.
The plan for today is to do whatever I'm asked here then go home sleep for a bit then get up and fix a computer then maybe go to my parents house and make something for thanksgiving (can't believe it's that time again).
I'm still working on getting a Bluetooth keyboard for my cell so that typing will be easier. I have so many emails and documents that I work on while I'm out and about that efficiency seems nonexistent right now.

Fixing my own computer

8:30PM So I've learned that fixing other people's computers seems to be so much easier then fixing my own. I guess this typically goes to the fact that I do more with my computers then most people do so I spend more time with a brick then I do with a functional computer. For example I'm trying to reinstall windows onto my gaming PC so that I can go back to my favorite games that I have spent so much of my time on and just don't play well on my laptop. Among these are STO (Star Trek Online), Diablo 3, TF2 (Team Fortress 2) and a few others that are more casual games that I pick up and put down many times. Well the most recent issue is that the OS (windows 7) installs onto the C drive without any issues but because the drive is partitioned I run into so many issues with fixing the master boot record and since I don't really mess with that kind of stuff I run into so many issues with having to Google the next step so I quit before I get to far. Hopefully this post will be the beginning of the end of these issues. I don't plan on just typing this up all in one go it's going to be more a chronological run through the night which each new paragraph being that time between looking up steps and testing them out. hopefully I don't brick my 1TB hard drive or loss all my data since I really can't back up the information. Surgeon General doesn't suggest doing this if you don't have a clue what to do. I probably learn how true that is before the end of the night.

9:45PM So I've gone through the whole type this type that check and that had no effect on how the system is set up. So now I'm going to the format both the MBR partition and the c drive partition I hope this is what does it. This will teach me to no make a recovery disk for my system. <.<

11:14PM so yeah that was a waste of time data and so much more. i formatted both the partitions that i thought were the issue then tried to reinstall which failed after that I made a second attempt to install and that failed too. so i then decided to remove the 1 TB hard drive and install a spare 80gb SATA that I have booted up the system and watched as windows 7 ultimate popped up on the screen before my very eyes. now let us remember that i formatted 2 of the partitions on the 1 TB and here I insert 1x80GB SATA hard drive that some how has windows 7 ultimate on it. Needless to say I'm still kicking myself for this because I have accomplished the most stupid act ever. maybe I didn't loss everything on that format and fixing my new issue will be easier then this last one.

That was so stupid. By the way this is a how my night went. So yeah going to tuck my tail between my legs and go fix the new issue of trying to make my system boot with the hard drive in it. Then reinstall all my games since i know that is a possibility.

Work is great!

So I haven't been posting to often lately because my new job is kind of insane with the hours I work and the things I have to do. So far I have been requested to install printers, fix printers, and replace toner on printers at my one job which pays pretty decently. Then the other job allows me to drive to different stores around the area and set up different things pays decent as well. So yeah I am surviving pretty well still might need a second job to make up the difference in what I lack on some bills but that is going to come with time. I started looking for.a decent Bluetooth keyboard that I could toss in my bag for use with my phone that way I can post more on here plus it would make emails on my phone so much easier to write. I've been finding new ways to set up my mobile office so that it uses the least amount of space but will be highly efficient for getting everything done. Tonight I start the research on how to set up a solar powered server with WiFi in my car so that I can run all my major not for dropbox or Google cloud documents (ie: technical manuals, and other goodies). About to enter the store to install a printer so enjoy life and good luck in all your indevours.

Small update on recent activities

Just got the power cord to my laptop... BTW I had to order a power cord to my laptop because the old one died.....yeah probably should have stated that prior to today(night)'s post. I find it interesting that though I was without my laptop for only about 5 days (wow how did I survive that) I have gone right back to using my laptop for the useless things that I typically use it for; email, work, image finding, research, etc. Yeah OK so it's not as much as some people but it's fun having it back. Don't really know where I’m going with this because I’m kinda curious if this is going anywhere.
Actually to tell you the truth I just started typing just to see what nonsense would come out of my brain from today's adventures. Alright so fun thing went on a trip to the mountains got on a very nice trail and ended up tripping because it's half a mile to the top where we could see over everything for a thousand or so miles in every direction. I enjoyed the view but ended up having to rest to many times. I realized how out of shape I am during the long walk up. I enjoyed it though lots of nature and people the force of blood pumping faster then normal through my body. I carried my niece a large portion of the way up. 25Lbs seemed to be like 100lbs going up but then it would have been the same going down because of the fact that your going against gravity in both directions. We were on the walk down, and we decided to take a short section of trail off to the right of the path that we were taking and the area was well worn from other people walking there plus signs and paint telling us where to go to stay on the trail. While traversing the trail my 5lb boots decided to get extra heavy because of my fatigue and I tripped over a rock. Ok so that is totally just an excuse as to why I tripped but really I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and the boots were heavy on my feet. On the way down I moved to protect myself from injuring my hands because that hurts more then anything plus I need them more now then before because of all the computer work i'm doing. I landed both hands and one knee on the ground with the other knee pressed to my chest keeping my torso balanced while the pain of hitting my patella, knee bone, on a rock.
Right now I’m relaxing at a place of little internet bandwidth which hugely sucks because I can't do as much research as I would like plus I can't go through Tumblr and find interesting things that I would never have seen anywhere else. Plus I found a very cool site I want to check out but I may post up on it later if I find that posting on it will help the site.

Microsoft Windows 8 install attempt

I finally decided to install the Windows 8 OS prerelease on my desktop today but that ended in failure after 3 attempts of trying the install and 3 attempts at failing because it required some form of validation other then the product key I gave up. Right before going to bed I got an idea that makes me wonder. Should  I attempt to see if the lack of internet connection is what caused the failure but i find it odd that the lack of internet will hault an install unless Windows 8 is like diablo 3 and always requires an internet connection. If anyone has any ideas on this please leave it in the comments.
