New paper route

So in order to maintain my way of life I have decided to start a paper route. It feels like I'm young again doing a paper route before school to make spending money. Today is the first day of the paper route which means getting to know the people I will be seeing in the morning; finding out who I will be talking to, to get what I need; getting the papers; and just the regular basics of starting a new job. I'm excited to start this, but in a few weeks I feel like I'm going to be regretting this choice because the hours are early morning while its still dark and cold till the sun comes up.
The plan for today is to do whatever I'm asked here then go home sleep for a bit then get up and fix a computer then maybe go to my parents house and make something for thanksgiving (can't believe it's that time again).
I'm still working on getting a Bluetooth keyboard for my cell so that typing will be easier. I have so many emails and documents that I work on while I'm out and about that efficiency seems nonexistent right now.

Fixing my own computer

8:30PM So I've learned that fixing other people's computers seems to be so much easier then fixing my own. I guess this typically goes to the fact that I do more with my computers then most people do so I spend more time with a brick then I do with a functional computer. For example I'm trying to reinstall windows onto my gaming PC so that I can go back to my favorite games that I have spent so much of my time on and just don't play well on my laptop. Among these are STO (Star Trek Online), Diablo 3, TF2 (Team Fortress 2) and a few others that are more casual games that I pick up and put down many times. Well the most recent issue is that the OS (windows 7) installs onto the C drive without any issues but because the drive is partitioned I run into so many issues with fixing the master boot record and since I don't really mess with that kind of stuff I run into so many issues with having to Google the next step so I quit before I get to far. Hopefully this post will be the beginning of the end of these issues. I don't plan on just typing this up all in one go it's going to be more a chronological run through the night which each new paragraph being that time between looking up steps and testing them out. hopefully I don't brick my 1TB hard drive or loss all my data since I really can't back up the information. Surgeon General doesn't suggest doing this if you don't have a clue what to do. I probably learn how true that is before the end of the night.

9:45PM So I've gone through the whole type this type that check and that had no effect on how the system is set up. So now I'm going to the format both the MBR partition and the c drive partition I hope this is what does it. This will teach me to no make a recovery disk for my system. <.<

11:14PM so yeah that was a waste of time data and so much more. i formatted both the partitions that i thought were the issue then tried to reinstall which failed after that I made a second attempt to install and that failed too. so i then decided to remove the 1 TB hard drive and install a spare 80gb SATA that I have booted up the system and watched as windows 7 ultimate popped up on the screen before my very eyes. now let us remember that i formatted 2 of the partitions on the 1 TB and here I insert 1x80GB SATA hard drive that some how has windows 7 ultimate on it. Needless to say I'm still kicking myself for this because I have accomplished the most stupid act ever. maybe I didn't loss everything on that format and fixing my new issue will be easier then this last one.

That was so stupid. By the way this is a how my night went. So yeah going to tuck my tail between my legs and go fix the new issue of trying to make my system boot with the hard drive in it. Then reinstall all my games since i know that is a possibility.

Work is great!

So I haven't been posting to often lately because my new job is kind of insane with the hours I work and the things I have to do. So far I have been requested to install printers, fix printers, and replace toner on printers at my one job which pays pretty decently. Then the other job allows me to drive to different stores around the area and set up different things pays decent as well. So yeah I am surviving pretty well still might need a second job to make up the difference in what I lack on some bills but that is going to come with time. I started looking for.a decent Bluetooth keyboard that I could toss in my bag for use with my phone that way I can post more on here plus it would make emails on my phone so much easier to write. I've been finding new ways to set up my mobile office so that it uses the least amount of space but will be highly efficient for getting everything done. Tonight I start the research on how to set up a solar powered server with WiFi in my car so that I can run all my major not for dropbox or Google cloud documents (ie: technical manuals, and other goodies). About to enter the store to install a printer so enjoy life and good luck in all your indevours.

Small update on recent activities

Just got the power cord to my laptop... BTW I had to order a power cord to my laptop because the old one died.....yeah probably should have stated that prior to today(night)'s post. I find it interesting that though I was without my laptop for only about 5 days (wow how did I survive that) I have gone right back to using my laptop for the useless things that I typically use it for; email, work, image finding, research, etc. Yeah OK so it's not as much as some people but it's fun having it back. Don't really know where I’m going with this because I’m kinda curious if this is going anywhere.
Actually to tell you the truth I just started typing just to see what nonsense would come out of my brain from today's adventures. Alright so fun thing went on a trip to the mountains got on a very nice trail and ended up tripping because it's half a mile to the top where we could see over everything for a thousand or so miles in every direction. I enjoyed the view but ended up having to rest to many times. I realized how out of shape I am during the long walk up. I enjoyed it though lots of nature and people the force of blood pumping faster then normal through my body. I carried my niece a large portion of the way up. 25Lbs seemed to be like 100lbs going up but then it would have been the same going down because of the fact that your going against gravity in both directions. We were on the walk down, and we decided to take a short section of trail off to the right of the path that we were taking and the area was well worn from other people walking there plus signs and paint telling us where to go to stay on the trail. While traversing the trail my 5lb boots decided to get extra heavy because of my fatigue and I tripped over a rock. Ok so that is totally just an excuse as to why I tripped but really I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and the boots were heavy on my feet. On the way down I moved to protect myself from injuring my hands because that hurts more then anything plus I need them more now then before because of all the computer work i'm doing. I landed both hands and one knee on the ground with the other knee pressed to my chest keeping my torso balanced while the pain of hitting my patella, knee bone, on a rock.
Right now I’m relaxing at a place of little internet bandwidth which hugely sucks because I can't do as much research as I would like plus I can't go through Tumblr and find interesting things that I would never have seen anywhere else. Plus I found a very cool site I want to check out but I may post up on it later if I find that posting on it will help the site.

Microsoft Windows 8 install attempt

I finally decided to install the Windows 8 OS prerelease on my desktop today but that ended in failure after 3 attempts of trying the install and 3 attempts at failing because it required some form of validation other then the product key I gave up. Right before going to bed I got an idea that makes me wonder. Should  I attempt to see if the lack of internet connection is what caused the failure but i find it odd that the lack of internet will hault an install unless Windows 8 is like diablo 3 and always requires an internet connection. If anyone has any ideas on this please leave it in the comments.

The point when you know you've almost lost your mind.

Dear WiFi card,

I know this comes at a great disappointment to both of us but I'm going to have to let you go. You have lost to many connections in the past month and I'm tired of having to hit the refresh button 30 times just to view a site. If you straighten up your act and start working right I won't be required to find a replacement for you.

Sincerely;
Your Owner

I posted this to FaceBook but realized it was more suited for Blogger.

Caffeine plus 3am work schedule makes for a very good time to post random and seemingly stupid things for the world to see. I find this extremely stress relieving and it's funny how it puts stuff into perspective.

That Thing Called Sleep and My Most Recent Accident

Alright, so lately I've started on the Freelance path to success..... Ok maybe that is a bad way to start this off. Lately I've been trying out a new way to live my life and still make money and survive in this money driven world.....yeah not feeling that either. Alright last go at this. Two weeks ago I decided that it would be better for me to try having a more travel based job(s) which includes but not limited to freelance video editing, merchandising, independent contractor in the IT field, etc. It's a more difficult way of life especially starting out but it should all pan out at some point. I signed on with two companies that will give me jobs and basically set the pace for the next years to come. I don't want to put a time limit on it because that seems delusional. In my new pursuit I've learned that I suck at getting up before 10:30AM if have no where to go the next day and I'm even worse at going to bed before 1AM. It seems like I'm falling into the clutches of insomnia some nights and other nights it's just me trying to finish everything I can before falling asleep because, I know I'm going to wake up late in the day and then rush to try and get things done before typical companies close.

It's amazing the funny things that happen at night.  Which reminds me of the minor car accident I was in on my way back from AWA to my friends house on Sunday night.(ok so really bad segue just to tell this story but hey what can you do) It was a dark and stormy night on I-85 N and the cars where all around us (dramatic huh) the construction on the side of the road was slowing down our progress and making the people around me drive erratic. I watched the eb and flow of the cars around me as if my car was the moon. Then as the car in front of me began to brake I applied my brakes, only to feel a sudden jolt from the rear of the car push the car forward in one not so smooth motion. My passengers all jumped and I heard the cutest response anyone could ever hear from such a thing. "What was that?!," I heard my friend in the seat beside me exclaim in utter surprise. I stifled a laugh and then with all my concentration on not laughing said,"we just got hit." We had to trek down a short 3 mile stretch of the highway to get to a safe point so that we could pull over and assess the damage. I got out and the car that hit us pulled in front of us and parked. I ran down to check on her and then went to go check on my own vehicle. Relieved at my luck that she only hit the trailer hitch receiver which is the strongest point on my car. I ran back and attempted to exchange information with the woman. Which was entertaining since it was raining and the best thing I had to protect my phone from the rain was a plastic bag that just blew in the wind. (I'll leave the rest of that conversation for the insurance company to know.) After getting all that taken care of I spent a few minutes checking over everyone to make sure they were fine and then we drove to the nearest restaurant to get food since we hadn't eaten dinner yet. At the restaurant I was worried that the car might not fully make it back to my friends house because we started having idling problems with it; a possible result of the accident but I'm not laying any claim to knowing the inner workings of these newfangled cars which run on computers and sensors and all sorts of crazy magic. (I miss the old cars with the wires, cables, and other various physical connections to the wheels, throttle, and brakes. These days driving is less an experience and more a means to an end.) We ate and then drove the rest of the way back to my friends house which was luckily less eventful then the first portion. I realize now that there were so many more things I could have said during that incident but hey who's counting. Luckily it was just the car that got hurt and not a person or an animal.

So anyways that ends that story which brings me back to the beginning of my reason for typing this post. I have to be up at 7:30 AM and it is now 1:30AM which means not enough sleep to be had for what I have to do and I'm not actually tired yet. Yes I know I could turn over and close my eyes or read one of my new comic books or something like that but I find it more relaxing to get thoughts out of my head and written down for people to judge me on. (I'm a messed up individual I know) These days I spend more time thinking about how people see me and less on how I want to be seen in the eyes of the world (not that the world cares but more or less the egotistical drivel that I've grown accustom to since high school.) After proofreading this to make sure it makes enough sense that you'll get the gist of what I'm trying to say. (I feel like writing these post makes me a better speaker since I'm finding synonyms for words and definitions to make sure I'm spelling stuff right. Guess that's the perfectionist in me showing through).

I blame insomnia for this one.....

Day 1-2 AWA-con

So I was going to post this yesterday but I figure beginning of day 3 is still with time frame. So let us see what all I can remember.

Day 1: spent way to much money way to fast didn't realize it till I check to see if I could afford a Dvd set that I wanted which was $90. Went to a few panels that I enjoyed but other then thatvi was in the dealers room and the artist alley.  The panels were the best I mostly went to prop building panels on both days but more on that in day 2. The prop destressing panel was great I'm a fan of the guys that build the props.

Day 2
Woke up slowly got dress quickly. I cosplayed at Randel Oland from Pumpkin Scissors (you can Google/Bing him). 3 people knew who I was. The only photos of me were by my friends which was nice of them. Leatherworking panel was amazingly useful I now know how I'm going to fix my belt. So that it works better (velcro sucks). Metalless armour panel was entertaining but none informative since the materials talked about can all melt in a hot car. The sculpting class was great I now know what it takes to make things look amazing and the details you can get with improve tools. Soul Eater podcast was hilarious I might post up a clip from that on my YouTube channel if I do then ill link it over for you guys/gals to see. Went to a "rave" where I danced kinda felt like cas from supernatural cuz the Randel Oland outfit has a trench coat and I hugely suck a social engagements (curse of antisocialness: -20 to people all skills). Around 4am Sunday the "rave" stopped and I decided to head back to the hotel room to get 3 and a half hours of sleep before day 3 schedule started.

Part 1 Travel to AWA 2012

So the travel from my home to my friends which is a 2 hour drive was very entertaining to say the least. We had a few laughs and remembered the past years events. We got lost a couple times well more like 4 - 5 times, which was entertaining to say the least. After arriving at my friend's house we went out to eat which was fun especially since my friend was making a very good point about how I've been to her house 5-6 times and still get lost on the way here.  Then we came back to her house, checked over the schedule for AWA, played a few board games of which were; Robo Ralley (very fun game), Inca Treasures(I'll edit in the real name of the game later), and Ticket to Ride.

Victory scores for me:

  1. Robo Ralley: 2nd with 3 rally points (or what ever they are called)
  2. Inca Treasures: 2nd with 23 points
  3. Ticket to Ride: 2nd with 97 points
I'm kinda noticing a trend there with the whole 2nd place-ness <---i big="big" gonna="gonna" it="it" m="m" make="make" off="off" p="p" that="that" word="word">

It's approx. 4:23AM @ this current point. Gotta wake up at 7:30AM to take a shower and get everything ready to head to Atlanta in the morning.

  • boots - check
  • laptop - check
  • thumb drives - check
  • SD cards - still looking for the last few
  • extra cables - check
  • camera - still getting them together
  • tripods - check

I know I'm going to forget something on this list right before I leave and not going to be able return to get what I need. Here's to trying to keep up with everything that I need to have before I leave. Need to GPS all the locations that we are going to be going to so that I can have directions. I've been waiting for this trip for a year now and I am so glad that the time for AWA 2012 is here already. When I come back it's back to the grindstone. Trying to spend as much time getting everything together so that I can toss everything in the car tomorrow and get the last few things done before we leave. Still have to run up a budget for the weekend. Ya know the whole don't spend all your money in one place saying. I'll run through the house tomorrow and make sure that everything I need is in the car. Last minute rush is always the fun part. Yeah I could have had everything set aside so all I had to do was just load up and go but what fun would that be especially when most of the fun from a trip is running around the house in a crazy haze trying to make sure you have everything then realizing 20 miles down the road you forgot something that you really need for the trip like a phone charger or laptop charger. We'll here's to making sure I have everything before I leave and cherrio.

Quick post about cell phone problems

The past few months have been a constant disappoint when it comes to my 4G HTC inspire (or which ever phone model it is) and it's ability to connect to the internet, or lack there of. I finally decided that I needed my 4G phone to be more then just a texting/calling/camera device. I went to the AT&T store just up the road with all intentions of upgrading it but realized I still had some sort of attachment to this phone. I asked the lady about the upgrade anyways but that wasn't worth the time it took to ask the question because she was just a sales lady. The tech she transferred me to was nice enough to go more in depth and find out that I still had my 3G sim card from my last phone in my slightly newer 4G phone. Turns out that's a bad idea. Moral to the story retail stores for AT&T aren't the place to go just head to the nearest actual AT&T store. They can be nicer and are a lot more helpful...at least this time around.
Also on a side note getting mad at the person helping you never works to your benefit. The woman that was across the room was a complete nuisance I felt bad for the associate help her.  If any of this helped you out please share it with people you and techs you meet the are having this issue.

The FBI moneypak ransom Trojan/Virus scare

So about a month ago I got the greatest scare I could have ever imagined. My trusted laptop that I use for research, tech work, and various other task came under the attack of a very annoying lockout virus/Trojan. I read through the text carefully then plugged in my trusty boot-able thumb drive, running the newest version of Ubuntu. After rebooting my laptop, I started researching what could have locked me out of my laptop. Using keywords like FBI, MoneyPak, ransom, and so on. I came across a few pictures that looked like the screen that had locked me out of my system so I began researching the title that was given on the webpage "FBI MoneyPak Ransom Virus". I went through a few websites that said to just run a virus scanner on a boot-able drive or other childish nonsense like paying the fee because it was from the FBI.

After a few days of running scans from all manners of different thumb drive sources none of which had any effect, which I still find odd, the system wasn't fixed. I decided to make a few attempts to log on to the computer and start a virus scan before the computer finished running through the boot-up process. On the last attempt I noticed that the wireless switch was in the off position on the laptop and since I hadn't tried this approach to fixing my issue I allowed it to fully boot. Ten minutes later the lockout virus/Trojan still hadn't popped up. This allowed me to understand the basic running of the virus/Trojan.
Basically:
  1. As soon as the computer attempts to connect to the internet it prompts the virus/Trojan to activate.
  2. Once a connection is established it runs the next portion which is to lock you out, but if the connection is not made it halts the virus.(This lets me know that the virus doesn't store IP information on infected system or if it does it needs an open connection to fully activate)
  3. Once active it blocks out all other programs to do anything but look pretty on the hard drive.
  4. This is very annoying and it has to be destroyed.
This whole story brings me to the easiest fix so far:
  1. Disconnect the computer from the internet so that when it attempts to connect it can't. Best thing to do is remove the wireless card, ethernet cable, flip the switch or any other means of a physically disconnecting from the internet. (This is so far the only quick means of getting through the boot process without being locked out.
  2. Next, open up network settings and proceed to remove the current connection settings from your system. For example if your at John Doe's house and his network connection information is saved under that name delete that information and then reconnect. This will reset your IP address. (fast and efficient for the moment).
  3. Search for a virus scanner online since you probably don't have one installed (I do now, I'm running malwarebytes free edition all I really need)
  4.  Before the virus can catch up run a virus scan using your favorite scanner. The virus should pop up in the scanners result section. After that just go ahead and remove the virus from the system, allow the system to reboot and you're done.
As I said this happened to me about a month ago and my system is still running nicely which is why I am writing up this blog about it. If you know of anything better that would help out in the future please leave a comment. Please share this with your friends, techs, and just help to spread the knowledge.

Decisions

Alright so the decision to make at the moment is whether or not to go to both dragon*con(sept2-5) and AWA (sept30-oct2). I have 8 months to save up for both which should be more then ample time to get up at least 400/con. Lets see so thats $800 in 8 months with ~4 weeks/month thats $25 a week. Plus then I have to assume that im deciding this before feb 5 which is $80 for the ticket for dragon*con and ~$25 for awa so thats $105 up front totalling to $905 spent on 2 cons. Id have to say thats not bad but can I make it also that doesnt include a place to stay and food. Hmm decisions decisions

New years resolutions

Alright so I was watching the news this morning and they were talkimg about keeping news years resolutions. This concept of waiting till the new year to start something seems very rediculous to me since we're told from a young age that we need to be self starters and self finishers. My resolution for the new year is to not have a resolution for the new year. Anything I need to work on for the betterment of my life starts when I decide to start it not when a cultural preset says I should.

On other news people drive me insane with their medicines and dependency on it, minor colds are good for the immune system because they cause the body to work. Being in an antiseptic world will start the next black plague. Ok that might be a large leap but it gets the point across. To be afraid of something is to allow it to control you.

Sometimes I wonder where this world is going, but then I realize how futile it is to meditate on such ideas. The world will do what it wants regardless of what humans do. We are a small species with a big ego.

Catching Up the Catch Up

Alright so its been 2 years 1 month and 3 days since my last post which is very interesting. So anyways since 2008 i've gotten a vehicle that runs, wrecked 2 vehicles, burned bridges(metaphorically), went to 2010 AWA, made a fool of myself and enjoyed hanging out with friends. I've also switched jobs since then to Home Health Care person which has become a boring job in its own right... actually its just boring all around. Bills have built up and money isn't forth coming fast enough.

on the brighter side of the world i've learned to cook many different foods and well gained new friends. Halloween 2010 was by far the best (videos from it on youtube) and new years eve party 2009 was hilarous and spent with good friends. Since getting a working vehicle september 2010 i've spent more time hanging out with friends and less time around the house. I now own a xbox 360, wii, kinect, and hdtv.

can't think of to much more at the moment but hey friday night is new years eve and this should be the best one to date.

My finger and it's predator

OK so for as long as I've worked at this drum refurbishing plant my fingers have been under attack by drums of all shapes, sizes, and mediums. The latest attack comes from a wedge ax that we use to pop holes in the tops of the drums so that we can clean the inside and crush them which smashed my pointer finger. It didn't hurt at first but then about 2-3 secs later it stung. After showing it to the resident medical practitioner here on the job I was given ice and then. Told to stay in the break room till the swelling went down enough for me to go back to work. 15 minutes later I was given the thumbs up to leave. Needless to say I've been pointing at everyone since the accident.

to much time to think

Why is it that we perceive ourselves to be something we're not? Who are we really? Why do we belong? Why are we here? Is it that thing called ego, or the fact that we view our lives to be more then they really are. Are we more then we are? Are we here for a special reason? Why is it that so many philosophers have summed up different things in one sentence?

We all have our reasonings on what the answer to these questions are and some of us don't. Like me for instance. I perceive myself as a mental version of what a chameleon is physically yet i dont have the ability to fully blend in with my surroundings. Why you might ask, because i just do. I watch a lot of TV mostly anime as most of the people i know do, but some of it is live action aka normal tv (ie: CSI, House, and Modern Marvels just to name a few). In all the TV that I've watched whether it be animated or not, a lot of the mentally stimulating shows and movies provoke thought into existence and after-life. yes i know that humans in general spend 20-30% of their life contemplating existence and withing the last 15-20 years of their life (while they still maintain the mental capacity to do so) the percentage goes up. Some people go crazy over it others don't, many who can write books about what it is they believe is the answer to the ever persistent question that lingers in the mind for years. Some believe the after life is a reflection of what you do in this life, others believe that death is the end and this is all you have, while still many dont know how to answer the question other then to say i'm here now and thats all that matters.

If its our ego that we're trying to mend or inflame what would be the reasoning in proving that we are so much more then what we are. A line from the new popular game Soul Caliber 4 comes to mind when i think of this "So you are what you are." It makes some sense but i can't place my finger on what truely makes sense about it. Yeah i'm me because i'm me and you are because you are you but you can't use the term to define the word so in other words it would be like saying i'm me because i'm the original there is nothing more or less then who i am. well with that said why do we think we're superior, is it because we created buildings, cars, roads, robots, toys, cards, tv, controlled electricity, redirected water, tamed the wild, traveled the 7 seas, converted mater, launched ourselves into outerspace, and so much more. I say that that is only one part of the question why but it isn't the answer or even enough to account for one third the answer. People think their superior to other humans though all humans are supposedly equal, they think they are the alpha in their micro-ecosystem, they think "we control the land and the animals no one is above us," but what they dont realize is that no one is truly above anyone yes they are separated by monetary means and physical wealth and endowments but past that we're all human we all can get and above all we die.

Is there some special reason for our existence or are we just the by product of something else. Some believe that God put us here for some reason but that doesn't explain why we're here. A character once said,"God is just a child with to many toys" (paraphrased). Some believe that we are the product of years of evolution, though that is true it doesn't explain why we exist though if brought into more thought it could be that we just evolved the quickest (ie: Darwinism). While still others and the one that i tend to believe over the rest is that we are just the result of another worlds death. We are born here right after we die in a different dimension. Souls transported from one reality to another starting fresh and new with no prior knowledge of the previous life. Yes this might be the thoughts of a romantic but hey i'm proud to say that i am a romantic.

Are philosophers so much more educated in the workings of the world that a huge mind numbing thought can be so easily explained in one brief statement. How is it that so much can be said in just a sentence? Ludwig Wittgenstein put it nicely,"Philosophy is a battle against the bewitchment of our intelligence by means of language." Which in all actual circumstances thats all that needs to be said, yet i do want to almost pull apart the sentence and show you what i mean. If you rework the sentence back to simple thought you get "Philosophy is a battle against","the bewitchment of our intelligence", and "by means of language".

Philosophy is a battle against: philosophy is a means of wrapping ones head around everything that happens in their life.

The bewitchment of our intelligence: we think about everything that happens and we wonder what caused it, what effects it what makes it what it is.

by means of language: we portray our thoughts threw one of the only know forms of auditory communication which is non-other then the language we speak.

My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment. -Oprah Winfrey-
